5/15/2018 We had two dogs bitten by rattlesnakes in the hospital today. Snake season has begun, so please be careful out there!
We stock antivenin in our hospital and are well prepared to handle snakebite emergencies. We also have the rattlesnake vaccine available, which can lessen the impact if a vaccinated dog is bitten. We’re here to help and are happy to answer any questions you may have.
2/1/2018- An alert to our clients regarding Canine Influenza (dog flu)
Canine influenza is active in Fresno and other parts of the San Joaquin Valley, as well as in the Bay Area. Dogs who are in contact with other dogs at boarding facilities, shelters, dog shows, doggie day cares and dog parks are at highest risk. Dogs who are isolated to their own yard/house/property are at lower risk. We have the two strain (H3N8 and H3N2) canine influenza vaccine available. Please call us to discuss your dog’s individual risk and the need for vaccines.
Most area boarding kennels are requiring dogs to be vaccinated for influenza and a series of two vaccines is required before a dog is considered protected. Remember to wash your hands if you pet someone else’s dog before you handle your own dogs to avoid accidentally carrying the virus to them.
